CLIPS Progress Update #1
Introduction
I hope everyone is having an amazing day! This post will be a bit different from the rest. Today, I will be updating everyone on how the game is going so far. I will go on about our team so far, the stage of the production we’re in, and some challenges. Without further ado, here is the update on CLIPS.
Team
For CLIPS, we are glad to have a few volunteers who will work on this project for free. The Demo needs only three voice actors, all who will be anonymous for now. All I will say is that I am happy to have them. Now, our Artist. We may get another one to help, but so far they are a great help. Check them outAlro130 on pixilart.com
Progress
Progress-wise, CLIPS is still in early beta. Final art is beginning to replace programmer art. The basic framework to render objects and create levels has been coded. Animations are now being developed. The entire Lore and design document for the Demo are written. Pseudo code is also written out for new features. I’m very happy on how it’s worked out. Progress is exponential.
Challenges
Sadly, there are more challenges than progress. In the start, I got many LINK errors trying to get SDL up and running. It took much trial and error, YouTube videos, and Stack Overflow checks to finally figure it out. After that, things were much smoother. And only minor errors occurred, like the wrong text or stretched out images appearing. Recently, I ran into an error with namespaces, but that was fixed to.
This brings me to our final error, one that has not been solved. This error occurs with SDL mixer. I am using .wav files and C++. The error is “unrecognized audio format”. This is in Visual Studio. If someone can help me, please let me know in the comments!
